Easy, Green Smoothie

Looking for a quick and easy way to get your serving of fruits and vegetables in? Then this easy, green smoothie is for you. There is a healthy serving of fruit, vegetable, healthy fats and essential vitamins and minerals so you’re left feeling light and refreshed. This is my go to morning smoothie if I’m rushing out of the house for work or as my post-yoga goodness.

Whether you’re totally plant based or not, you’re likely going to have all of these ingredients handy which is what makes this smoothie so quick and easy. It’s creamy, green, salty and sweet, so there’s a bit of everything going on here and it is GOOD.

As a follow up to my little talk about plant based protein (see here), this green smoothie has approximately 15g of protein in one serving, which is pretty good considering we’re not adding any protein powder to this.

This smoothie was made for convenience and nourishment, my two favourite things. The almond milk and spinach alone contain essential vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, vitamin E and vitamin C while the blueberries act as a powerful antioxidant, support digestion and pack a mean vitamin/ mineral punch themselves.

In the event that you are missing an ingredient, almost every one can be subbed for something else. Your banana could be avocado, your spinach could be another dark leafy green, your almond milk can be coconut milk and so on. All of these substitutes are great options, but go with the original first to say that you tried!
